International Alumni Update: May 28

Tracking former Blue Devils playing their professional ball overseas

On Monday, Shavlik Randolph and the Quebradillas Pirates needed to win to advance to the semi-finals, but they fell short 85-77 to the Arecibo Captains.  Shavlik did everything he could with 20 points and 6 rebounds in 30 minutes.  Peter John Ramos, Joel Jones, and ex-Colorado State player Milton Palacio had 15 points each.  In the win, ex-George Washington player Danilo Pinnock had 25 points and 9 rebounds, ex-Hofstra player Rick Apodaca had 23 points, and ex-USC player Larry Ayuso had 17 points and 6 rebounds.  Here is the box score.

  On Tuesday, Daniel Ewing and Azovmash faced a 2-0 finals deficit against Donetsk and an injury to Jerome Randle forced Daniel to slide over and run the point.  The team got off to a solid start and took a lead into the final quarter before falling apart and losing 77-74.  Daniel had 6 points and 5 assists in 32 minutes.  Matt Walsh had 20 points and Oleksiy Pecherov had 13 points.  In the win, ex-Cal State Bakersfield player Ramel Curry had 18 points and ex-St. Bonaventure player Michael Lee had 12 points.

  On Wednesday, DeMarcus Nelson and Cholet started their playoff series on the road against top-seeded Gravelines-Dunkerque.  The game was close throughout, but a last ditch effort from the visitors left them short 76-73.  DeMarcus had 7 points and 6 rebounds in 35 minutes.  Robert Dozier had 17 points and 9 rebounds, Randal Falker had 14 points and 9 rebounds, William Gradit had 14 points, and Patrick Christopher had 11 points.  In the win, ex-UNLV player J.K.   On Thursday, Daniel Ewing and Azovmash tried to avoid the sweep against Donetsk and got off to another good start before another 2nd half collapse led to an 84-79 defeat and a 2nd place finish.  Daniel had 4 points and 6 assists in 35 minutes.  Matt Walsh had 21 points and Radoslav Rancik had 18 points and 6 rebounds.  Ex-Arizona player Ivan Radenovic had 16 points in the win.

  Marty Pocius, Kyle Singler, and Real Madrid started their semifinal series against Caja Laboral Baskonia, but a poor 2nd half performance led to an 81-71 loss.  Marty had 2 points in 15 minutes after getting the start and Kyle had 7 points in 23 minutes off the bench.  Sergio Rodriguez had 10 points.  Ex-NBA player Maciej Lampe had 21 points and 11 rebounds in the win.  Here is the box score.

  On Saturday, Nick Horvath and the Manawatu Jets had their semifinal game against the Auckland Pirates and saw their season ended with a 104-88 loss.  Nick had 12 points and 16 rebounds in 28 minutes.  Josh Pace had 25 points and 6 rebounds, Chris Hagan had 17 points and 7 assists, Zane Meehl had 15 points, and Jeremiah Trueman had 12 points.  In the win, ex-UMKC and DII player Alex Pledger had 25 points and 13 rebounds, ex-Georgia Tech player Ismail Muhammad had 23 points and 6 rebounds, and ex-McNeese State player Ron Dorsey had 17 points.  Here is the box score.

  DeMarcus Nelson and Cholet evened up their series with Gravelines-Dunkerque with a 76-65 win at home.  DeMarcus had 19 points and 6 rebounds in 27 minutes and Patrick Christopher had 14 points.  In the loss, former Miami of Ohio player Juby Johnson had 12 points and ex-Virginia player J.R.   Kyle Singler, Marty Pocius, and Real Madrid took Game 2 against Caja Laboral Baskonia 73-64.  Kyle had 7 points in 24 minutes as he returned to the starting lineup and Marty grabbed 1 rebounds in 3 minutes off the bench.  Ex-Alaska player Brad Oleson had 14 points in the loss.  Here is the box score.

  Jess Foley and the Norwood Flames continued their run through the league with a 69-38 win over the West Adelaide Bearcats.  Jess had 14 points and 7 rebounds in 33 minutes and Amy Lewis had 17 points and 6 rebounds.
