Plumlee, a former top 100 recruit, won a national title during his freshman season at Duke. As a senior he averaged 6.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in leading the Blue Devils to a 27-7 overall record.
In February Plumlee set a Coach K-era single game record for most rebounds with 22 against Maryland.
Following his senior season the elder of the three Plumlee brothers was thought to be a second round pick, but a strong showing in the various draft combines and camps propelled him into the first round.
Plumlee closed his four-year career at Duke with 650 points and 654 rebounds, while shooting 55.6 percent (262-of-471) from the field. He helped Duke to the 2010 NCAA Championship, three ACC Tournament titles and a 115-20 record during his four seasons in Durham.
With the selection of Plumlee, head coach Mike Krzyzewski passes former UNC coach Dean Smith for the most first round picks produced over a career with 25.
