Mann recaps his Duke visit

Dequavais Mann

As the current Blue Devils were cruising past NC Central, one of the future stars on defense was in the stands watching. On Monday Dequavais Mann recapped his trip with TDD.

"I played on Friday night and had a pretty good game," said Rocky Mount (N.C.) Northern Nash standout Dequavais Mann. "We came up short, but I ran back The Opening kick-off 91 yards against Wilmington Laney. We rallied from a big halftime deficit, but ended up losing by five."

Despite the frustration of the close loss, Mann was happy to be back on the field after missing his team's previous game against South Central.

"I was banged up, and couldn't play. It was good to get back on the field, but I wish we would have gotten the victory for sure."

On Saturday, however, his future team took care of business in a big way on their way to a 37 point win in the Bull City Classic. It was a performance that was equal parts exciting and reaffirming for Mann.

"Honestly I love the direction the team and the program are heading. The game against Central was a good win and hopefully it'll build everyone's confidence back up from the game against Stanford. We have to keep this thing rolling."

Since committing to Duke on April 3rd, Mann has continued to field interest from a number of programs including East Carolina, Clemson, and others. However, the 5-foot-10, 185 pounder says he's first with his decision and knows where, and for whom he'll be playing next year.

"I think they are gong to have me factor in early in my career at cornerback and on special teams. I talk with Coach Petri a lot, but I also hear from Coach Jones and Coach Cutcliffe. They are all great and I'm looking forward to getting to Duke."
