Tracking former Blue Devils playing their professional ball overseas

On Saturday, Gran Canaria headed to Sevilla to face Cajasol and shuffled their lineup significantly, leaving Jon Scheyer on the bench.  The new look team struggled early before recovering for a back and forth game that came down to a strong fourth quarter by the home team that gave them a 74-63 win.  Jon had 8 points and 5 rebounds in 23 minutes.  Brad Newley had 14 points and 6 rebounds, Ryan Toolson had 11 points, and Spencer Nelson had 10 points.  Ex-Boston University player John Holland had 16 points in the win.  Here is the box score.

  Lyon was one team that was keeping an eye on the WNBA playoffs and they were finally able to have Mistie Bass as they faced Villeneuve.  She started on the bench, but got involved quickly as the team built a lead for the 89-75 win with Mistie contributing 25 points and 9 rebounds in 25 minutes.  Ex-DePaul player Lenae Williams had 20 points in the loss.  Here is the box score.

  Carrem Gay and Toulouse faced a tough test at Bourges and lost 67-50  Carrem had 8 points and 8 rebounds in 27 minutes.  Here is the box score.

  Charleville could use Sheana Mosch as they continue to battle shorthanded and lost a close one 55-49 at Mondeville.  Here is the box score.

  On Sunday, Marty Pocius and Real Madrid returned to domestic league action with a long trip to face the other Canary Islands team, Canarias.  Marty got the start as the team played a close game and just managed to hold off their opponents 88-86 as he contributed 7 points in 15 minutes.  Jaycee Carroll had 26 points and Rudy Fernandez had 16 points.  Here is the box score.

  Jess Foley and the Townsville Fire suffered their first loss of the season after falling 80-65 to the Adelaide Lightning.  Jess had 10 points and 6 rebounds in 28 minutes and Shanavia Dowdell had 16 points and 7 rebounds.  Here is the box score.

  In Russia, Jasmine Thomas and Chevakata made the long trip to Orenburg to face Nadezhda where they had a tough time and lost 67-49.  Jasmine had 8 points and 9 rebounds in 32 minutes and Glory Johnson had 14 points.  In the win, ex-Auburn player DeWanna Bonner had 17 points.  Here is the box score.

  Chante Black and Samsun started their regular season with a blowout 69-39 win over Edremit.  Chante had 11 points and 14 rebounds in 35 minutes.  Ex-Louisiana Tech player Amisha Carter had 14 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.  Here is the box score.

On Monday, Shelden Williams and Elan Chalon hosted Nancy in a battle between the last two French champions.  The game was a close one for the first half before the home team took charge and rolled to a 76-61 win.  Shelden had 8 points and 12 rebounds in 21 minutes.  Blake Schilb had 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, Brion Rush had 12 points, and Ilian Evtimov had 10 points.  Ex-Oral Roberts player Shawn King had 18 points and 6 assists in the loss.  Here is the box score.

On Tuesday, David McClure and Neptunas took a break from playing teams all across Eastern Europe to play a domestic league game at Prienai, but they had more difficulty with them than with their foreign opposition as they lost 92-69.  David had 5 points in 15 minutes.  In the win, ex-Hofstra player Arminas Urbutis had 11 points.  Here is the box score.
