Tracking former Blue Devils playing their professional ball overseas

On Saturday, DeMarcus Nelson and Red Star Belgrade had an intriguing Adriatic League game in Macedonia against MZT Skopje in a game between two teams with a number of issues to sort out.  With a number of players unavailable, DeMarcus was critical for the team and he had 9 points and 8 rebounds in 35 minutes to be named the MVP in a 75-60 win.  In the loss, ex-Oklahoma player Cade Davis had 10 points.  Here is the box score.

  In China, Krystal Thomas and the Jiangsu Phoenix made their debut against Bayi and they lost 84-62.  Krystal had 18 points and 11 rebounds in 38 minutes.

  In Australia, Jess Foley and the Townsville Fire dropped their second straight game after losing 87-59 to the Bulleen Boomers.  Jess had 7 points in 23 minutes and Kayla Standish had 14 points and 7 rebounds.  Here is the box score.

  In France, Mistie Bass continues to be key for Lyon as they held on in an extremely low-scoring 44-43 win over Bourges.  Mistie had 16 points and 9 rebounds in 31 minutes.  Here is the box score.

In Turkey, Chante Black and Samsun had a tough task as they faced Galatasaray and lost 71-52.  Chante did everything she could with game highs of 19 points and 12 rebounds.  In the win, ex-Stanford player Sebnem Kimyacioglu and ex-Houston player Sancho Lyttle had 12 points each.  Here is the box score.

  On Sunday, David McClure and Neptunas were back in VTB United League action and looking for their first win as they headed to the Czech Republic to face Nymburk.  The game was close throughout but they fell short and lost 84-78.  David was quiet in 7 minutes off the bench as Rashaun Broadus had 18 points.  In the win, ex-DII player Radoslav Rancik had 14 points and ex-NBA player Jiri Welsch had 13 points.  Here is the box score.

In Spain, Jon Scheyer and Gran Canaria were back in action at home against Zaragoza and a return to their established lineup allowed them to earn a 74-56 win.  Jon was back as a starter and had 11 points and 6 rebounds in 24 minutes.  Ryan Toolson had 17 points, Spencer Nelson had 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Eulis Baez had 11 points and 6 rebounds.  Ex-UCLA player Michael Roll had 13 points in the loss.  Here is the box score.

  Marty Pocius and Real Madrid played fellow Euroleague team Caja Laboral and took an early lead before letting their visitors back into the game and having the game sent into overtime before winning it right at the end 83-81.  Marty had 5 points in 22 minutes.  Nikola Mirotic had 16 points and 7 rebounds, Jaycee Carroll had 13 points, Marcus Slaughter had 11 points, and Sergio Rodriguez had 10 points and 7 assists.  In the loss, Nemanja Bjelica, who was drafted in the second round by the Washington Wizards in 2010 and then immediately traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, had 25 points, ex-NBA player Maciej Lampe had 22 points and 8 rebounds, and ex-Alaska player Brad Oleson had 11 points.  Here is the box score.

  Jasmine Thomas and Chevakata were in Russian Cup action as they hosted the first leg of a quarterfinal matchup against Nadezhda one week after facing them in Orenburg.  The team got off to a rough start before using a fourth quarter run to pull within 65-56, which at least gives them something to play for when the second leg is played a few weeks from now.  Jasmine had 4 points in 29 minutes and Glory Johnson had 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Here is the box score.  

In France, Carrem Gay and Toulouse earned a tough win at Tarbes 72-65.  Carrem had 18 points and 6 rebounds in 34 minutes to lead her team.  Ex-Georgia player Angelica Robinson had 21 points and 16 rebounds in the loss.  Here is the box score.

  Charleville is still short-handed and waiting to be able to use Sheana Mosch as they suffered a 63-46 loss to Lattes Montpellier.  Ex-WNBA player Edwiges Lawson-Wade had 11 points in the win.  Here is the box score.

On Monday, Shelden Williams and Chalon returned to domestic league action at Dijon and rolled to a 95-70 win.   Shelden had 6 points in 21 minutes.  Brion Rush had 16 points and Ilian Evtimov had 14 points.  In the loss, ex-Portland player T.J. Campbell had 13 points, ex-East Tennessee State player Kevin Tiggs had 11 points and ex-Fairleigh Dickinson player Andre Harris had 10 points.  here is the box score.
