Former Blue Devil standout Phil Henderson, 44, has died in the Philippines according to multiple media reports.

Henderson played at Duke from 1986-1990. The cause of death has yet to be reported.

Henderson, a former McDonald's All-American, played for Duke and Coach K from 1986-1990. After the 1990 season he enjoyed a five year pro career in the NBA and abroad, playing for the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat organizations.

Late in 2012 Henderson opened a Youth Basketball Skills Academy, The Filipino Basketball Academy based in Metro Manila. The ultimate goal of The Academy is to equip boys and girls, ages 7-18, with the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of the game.

One of his teammates, Robert Brickey, posted a message on Facebook saying he was "deeply saddened by the loss of my friend, roommate and teammate Phil Henderson ... Keep his family in prayer."

As a senior, Henderson averaged 18.5 points per game while leading Duke to the Final Four, and national championship game against UNLV. Perhaps the most memorable moment from that season came when he dunked over Alonzo Mourning (see below).
