After fielding offers from Appalachian State, Duke, East Carolina, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia, and Wake Forest, Mocksville (N.C.) Davie County standout Tripp McNeill has made his college choice.
"I committed to Duke yesterday," McNeill told TDD on Tuesday morning.
McNeill is ranked as the nation's No. 59 offensive tackle and a three star prospect according to Scout.com. He is considered one of the top prospects from the state of North Carolina by Scout, and measures out at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds.
Last summer, Davie County head coach Doug Illing described McNeill to Inside Carolina as:
"When he walks into a room, you can tell he’s a big guy. But sometimes big guys aren’t physical and are lazy, but he’s not a lazy kid and he’s a very physical player. He just wants to bury you – he has that type of mentality. And on top of that he has a lot of strength to go with it. He has done a good job to manage his weight and use his intensity to his advantage."
