Tracking former Blue Devils playing their professional ball overseas

On Saturday, Jon Scheyer and Gran Canaria faced another tough test against Valencia and fell 68-56.  Jon had a quiet game with 4 rebounds and 2 assists in 26 minutes.  Spencer Nelson had 15 points and Brad Newley had 10 points.  In the win, ex-Xavier player Justin Doellman had 14 points.  Here is the box score.

Shelden Williams helped Chalon get off to a good start against Poitiers as they won decisively 84-52.  Shelden had 18 points and 11 rebounds and was only needed for 19 minutes.  In the loss, ex-St. Joseph's player Ahmad Nivins, who was drafted in the second round in 2009 by the Dallas Mavericks before being traded to the New York Knicks, had 23 points and 6 rebounds.  Here is the box score.

DeMarcus Nelson and Red Star Belgrade were already locked into the second position in the Adriatic League Final Four as they entered the final week of the regular season.  Although they did come back in the second half to challenge Radnicki, they ended up helping their fellow Serbian team seal third place after losing 80-75.  DeMarcus had 10 points and 9 assists in 32 minutes.  In the win, ex-Ole Miss player Terrico White had 14 points.  Here is the box score.

Monique Currie and Perfumerias Avenida took a little while to take control against Gran Canaria, but took care of business in the second half and won 66-55.  Monique finished with 8 points and 7 rebounds in 22 minutes.  Here is the box score.

Shay Selby did not dress as Strakonice continued beating its opponents from the bottom third of the standings with an 86-58 win over Karlin.  In the loss, ex-Notre Dame player Melissa D'Amico had 16 points.  Here is the box score.

On Sunday, David McClure and Neptunas headed to Siberia to face Enisey in VTB United League play and escaped with a 77-63 win.  David had 6 points and 5 rebounds in 26 minutes and Rashaun Broadus had 15 points.  In the loss, ex-Florida State player Jason Rich had 17 points, ex-USC player Davon Jefferson had 10 points and 7 rebounds, and ex-Virginia Tech player Zabian Dowdell had 10 points.  Here is the box score.

Without Marty Pocius, Real Madrid finally got back on track after beating Zaragoza 84-75 as they returned to domestic league action.  Rudy Fernandez had 18 points.  In the loss, Minnesota Timberwolves 2009 second round pick Henk Norel had 15 points.  Here is the box score.

On Monday, Daniel Ewing made his return from his injury just in time as Besiktas returned to domestic league action against Istanbul rivals Galatasaray.  The team fought back from an early deficit, but fell short as they lost 76-72.  Daniel had 5 points in 10 minutes and Damir Markota had 11 points and 11 rebounds.  In the win, ex-Florida International player Carlos Arroyo had 17 points, Cleveland Cavaliers 2011 second round pick Milan Macvan had 12 points and 6 rebounds, and ex-NBA player Boniface Ndong had 11 points and 6 rebounds.  Here is the box score.

Lindsey Harding and Galatasaray returned to domestic league action after their disappointing performance in the Euroleague Women as they blasted Ankara 87-47.  Lindsey had 11 points in 22 minutes.  Sancho Lyttle had 22 points and 9 rebounds and Sylvia Fowles had 14 points and 7 rebounds.  Here is the box score.

Jasmine Thomas and Chevakata were suprised by Energia Ivanovo 75-66 after a tough second half.  Jasmine had 14 points in 33 minutes and Glory Johnson had 17 points and 16 rebounds.  In the loss, ex-UNC player Leah Metcalf had 17 points.  Here is the box score.

The Euroleague Women final and third place game were on Sunday.  France's Bourges took third place after beating Good Angels Kosice of Slovakia 65-57 as ex-WNBA player Emmeline Ndongue had 10 points.  In the loss, ex-De Paul player Allie Quigley had 18 points and 8 rebounds, ex-UTEP player Natasha Lacy had 11 points, and ex-Texas Tech player Plenette Pierson had 10 points and 6 rebounds.  The final ended up being no surprise as hosts UMMC Ekaterinburg used their greater depth in stars to prevail 82-56 over Turkey's Fenerbahce.  Candace Parker had 24 points and 11 rebounds, ex-WNBA player Sandrine Gruda had 19 points and 8 rebounds, and Diana Taurasi had 14 points in the win as 22 points and 7 rebounds from Angel McCoughtry was not enough.
