Duke in the '13 Summer League - Day One

Mason Plumlee

Sunday marked the tip off of the NBA Orlando Summer League with a couple of Blue Devils in action. Here's a rundown of the performances.

Boston Celtics: Unrestricted free agent Nolan Smith started for the Celtics, but managed just five minutes of action as the C's fell to the Orlando Magic 95-88. Smith did manage four points and a steal in the limited minutes before a right leg injury took him out of the game. Early, unconfirmed reports have Smith likely out for the rest of the league's schedule.

Detroit Pistons: Second year Piston Kyle Singler didn't play in the team's first game, a 76-67 victory over Brooklyn.

Indiana Pacers: Second year pro Miles Plumlee started in the post for the Pacers and played just over 29 minutes. In that time the former first round pick posted a stat line of nine points, nine rebounds, six blocks, and three assists while shooting 4-of-10 from the field. For much of the game Plumlee was matched up against Oklahoma City first round pick Steven Adams out of Pitt. Adams finished the game two points and six rebounds in 21 minutes.

Brooklyn Nets: First round pick Mason Plumlee made his NBA debut for new head coach Jason Kidd and his staff, and proved worthy of his draft position. In 31 minutes Plumlee scored 10 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and provided the highlight of the game with a great spin move and dunk over fellow first rounder Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
