suffered a broken collar bone against Memphis
, but the injury will not require surgery, head coach David Cutcliffe told the media on Sunday. There is no timetable for Boone's return set at this point.
Boone becomes the second Blue Devil quarterback to be sidelined for an extended period of time, joining redshirt freshman Thomas Sirk who is still recovering from a torn Achilles tendon. Sirk, as of week two, is still not participating in football related activities.
The of Boone and Sirk means Duke will look to preseason third string quarterback Brandon Connette as the starter for the foreseeable future. Connette will be backed up by true freshman Parker Boehme.
Connette was 14-of-21 for 198 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns against Memphis.
After losing their starting quarterback for the majority of the game on Saturday, head coach David Cutcliffe confirmed to the media that Anthony Boone is, indeed, out indefinitely. However, the junior signal caller won't require surgery.
