After snapping a 30 game ACC Conference losing streak, the Duke Football players were both thrilled…
We're heading down to play a very hot football team. They really got after Florida State, and it wasn't an accident. They got after them for four quarters and sustained that level of play. We've definitely got our work cut out for us.
He and I have a wonderful relationship, and I've got a tremendous amount of respect for him. When I first started as a graduate student at Alabama he was the receivers coach. He kind of showed me the ropes when it came to coaching and helped me get my feet wet.
This year he's got his team playing great football. The way they came back last week after losing says a lot about him and his character.
On his first win against Georgia Tech:
That wasn't my first win, it was our first conference win. We don't talk in terms of "I" or "me". We are a unit and we do things together.
Honestly the opponent doesn't matter to us. We just like to win, and we don't take pride in beating any school more than another. We aren't picky, and we'd like to beat anyone we can right now.
On Ryan Fowler:
What makes him run is his incredible motor and passion for the game. You just don't hang around this long and make as many plays as he's made over his career by just going through the motions. He really prepares himself each and every week. He plays with intensity and it says a lot when you can do it over the long haul like he has.
On Chris Dapolito:
He has some gifts and he's done a good job absorbing the offense and putting little things into the game plan. The kids really rally around him because they believe in him. He's been a great leader and is a tremendous competitor.
That said, Mike Schneider is our starting quarterback and that will remain as is. However we'll throw whomever we've got in there to give us the best shot at winning at any given point.
