freshman forward David McClure
will undergo surgery to remove a loose body in his left knee on Tuesday, Feb. 1. McClure, who had played in the first 16 games of the season prior to sitting out last night's contest against Virginia Tech, suffered the injury against Maryland on Jan. 26. He will undergo surgery, to be performed by Dr. Larry Higgins, at the Duke University Medical Center.
"I feel badly for David," said Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "We won't know a timetable for his recovery until after Dr. Higgins performs the surgery. He is a key member of our team and he will be missed during the time he is out."
In helping the Blue Devils to a 16-1 start this season, McClure averaged 1.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. Duke (16-1, 6-1 ACC) returns to action on February 2 when it faces Wake Forest at Lawrence Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Freshman reserve forward David McClure sustained a knee injury in practice and is out of action for a while.
