McClure Out 6-8 Weeks

David McClure

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke junior forward David McClure will miss 6-8 weeks of action following surgery on his right knee. The surgery was successfully performed Tuesday at Duke University Ambulatory Surgery Center by Dr. Dean Taylor.

"David McClure had successful surgery on his right knee today and we are happy with the outcome of the procedure," said head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "The surgery will eliminate some lingering pain he has been dealing with and give him a chance to start the season at 100%. He is a tough young man and we anticipate that he will be ready to go when practice starts in October."

McClure is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he averaged 4.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in just over 21 minutes per game. The Ridgefield, Conn., native shot 49.1 percent (54-of-110) from the floor and finished tied for second on the team with 39 steals.

McClure missed seven games as a freshman and was sidelined the entire 2005-06 season while recovering from offseason left knee surgery to repair an osteochondral lesion on his patella. He earned a letter and was granted a redshirt during the 2005-06 season.
