Education has always been a calling card for Farrell's recruitment who told Scout.com in February that he was looking for football to provide him with an "Ivy League education". With Duke he feels he's found just that opportunity.
"They offered me at the end of May and when I got the official offer letter in the mail, I knew it was just a matter of time."
Measuring out at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds while clocking in with a 4.6 forty yard dash, Farrell says that he has been recruited to play the tight end position, though he can certainly slide to the defensive end if needed.
"In high school I am a third-down pass rushing type of end, but I like the tight end position better and that is where I am going to play in college."
Farrell, who goes by "Jack", chose Duke over an offer from Army and interest from Northwestern, Virginia, Wake Forest, Texas, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Tech.
