Randez James Will Miss Spring Practice

DURHAM, N.C. — Duke head football coach David Cutcliffe announced on Thursday that freshman linebacker Trent Mackey has been dismissed from the program for violation of team standards while freshman defensive back Randez James has been suspended from the team and will miss spring practice.

Mackey, a 5-10, 200-pound native of Carencro, La., appeared in 11 games in 2008 and was credited for 10 total tackles. He is no longer enrolled at Duke.

James, a 5-11, 175-pound native of San Antonio, Texas, did not see game action in 2008. His status as a member of the program will be evaluated at the conclusion of the spring semester.
