Several Recruits + Surprise On Tap at Duke

Hairston Will Join Others In Attendance Tonight

It's the biggest rivalry in college basketball with not a ticket to be found. However, several future Blue Devils will be in attendance when Duke faces North Carolina in Cameron. And, there's also one big recruiting surprise to report...

Having recruited the East Coast and neighboring states so heavily in the classes of 2009 and 2010, the Duke coaching staff has been able to host many of their committed prospects at various games. That will be the case again Wednesday as head coach Mike Krzyzewski and his staff welcome 2010 commitments Tyler Thornton and Josh Hairston to Cameron Indoor.

Joining his future teammates in the stands will be 6-foot-10 McDonald's All-American signee Ryan Kelly who will be making yet another drive from Raleigh to Durham.

While the Cameron Crazies will no doubt welcome their future Blue Devils, there will be yet another target of interest sitting behind the Duke bench when the team comes out of the tunnel. That target will be none other than Ames (IA) small forward Harrison Barnes- the nation's top small forward and number three overall prospect in the class of 2010. Joining Harrison will be his mother and sister. The family will likely arrive at Duke around 1 PM EST.

If it's a surprise to recruitniks that Barnes will be making the journey from Ames, IA to Durham, they are in good company...

Sources confirmed that Barnes' trip is happening without the knowledge of Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski in hopes that his appearance will "surprise" Coach K by showing up in his office this afternoon before the game. The element of surprise is, apparently, the product of Barnes himself.

Barnes will depart Durham tomorrow (Thursday morning) early and head home.

Meanwhile sources confirmed that the women's program will also have a player coming in for an unofficial visit in the form of 2011 prospect Taylor Greenfield.
