On April 9th Nelson was signed for the remainder of the season by the Chicago Bulls after spending the previous six weeks in the NBA's Developmental League with the Austin Toros.
While in Austin, and also the Bakersfield Jam, the former Duke guard averaged 19.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game as a combination point and scoring guard. He added 1.7 steals while playing nearly 38 minutes per night. Much of his scoring prowess had to do with a much improved shooting stroke that saw Nelson hit 54 percent of his field goal attempts and 42 percent of his three pointers, while connecting on 72 percent of his free throw attempts.
Wearing the familiar 21 jersey for the Bulls, Nelson will make an estimated $15,000 per game. Nelson will be a free agent after the season.
