Lewis led Duke to a 49-28 win over N.C. State by completing a school single-game record 40-of-50 pass attempts for 459 yards and five touchdowns. The 459 yards marks the fourth-highest single-game total in school history while the five touchdowns ranks as the second-best single-game total in school history. The 459-yard performance ranks 18th on the league's single-game chart and is the most yards by an ACC quarterback in a contest since 2003
He also rushed for one touchdown to match the ACC's single-game record for total touchdown responsibility with six scores. In the game, he engineered the Duke offense to 502 total yards against an N.C. State defense that entered the week ranking first in the ACC in total defense by allowing 239.2 yards per game. He threw for five touchdowns against an N.C. State defense that had allowed just six passing scores through the first five games of the year.
Lewis became Duke's all-time leader in touchdown passes with 59, bettering the previous standard of 55 held by Ben Bennett (1980-83) ... also topped the 8,000-yard plateau through the air for his career, becoming just the 16th player in ACC to accomplish the feat.
On Sunday, Lewis was named the Walter Camp Foundation's National Offensive Player of the Week as well as the College Football Performance Awards National Offensive Player and Quarterback of the Week.
