An already thin backcourt in Durham just got a whole lot thinner as junior guard Nolan Smith has been suspended for the first two games of the season.

Smith, who is expected to be the team's starting scoring guard alongside Jon Scheyer, will miss the team's first two games of the season against UNC-Greensboro and Coastal Carolina after "violating rules pertaining to summer league participation".

Without Smith, the Blue Devils must choose between freshman Andre Dawkins or walk-on Jordan Davidson as the team's second guard. Another, more likely option will be to move 6-foot-8 forward Kyle Singler to the scoring guard position as was the case in the team's final exhibition game against Findlay.

An official statement is expected from head coach Mike Krzyzewski following Tuesday's game against the Oilers.
